Summary:
The Old Men's Home, later Huize Steyndeld, was founded in Gorinchem in 1442 thanks to the initiative of a woman named Steijndeld, who made her house on Molenstraat available to elderly men who could no longer care for themselves. For over five centuries, the home functioned as a charitable institution, providing shelter to men in need. In 1939, it was renamed Huize Steyndeld. The building underwent several renovations and remained an important part of elderly care in Gorinchem until 1986.
