Facade stone for Bluebandhuis

GORINCHEM – The Bluebandhuis on the corner of Arkelstraat and Rosmolensteeg has had its own facade stone since Friday 21 June. The stone perfectly reflects the history of the special building.

The unveiling of the tile was done by Wim Vlierhuis of Port 6, client of the reconstruction of this characteristic building in the city center of Gorinchem, and Finus Romijn, owner of one of the houses in the complex.

The image shows the different historical stages of this building. In 1890 the building was still a city farm. In 1934 the building served as a residential complex designed by architect Aart Nieuwpoort from Sliedrecht. Years later the building was demolished and the archaeological soil research can be seen on the facade stone. Finally the new building completely in the style of the design by architect Aart Nieuwpoort.
