Archaeological research Krijtstraat

The archaeological research at the Chalk Street has already yielded several finds. Last week the remains of the house of Jan van Arkel uncovered. Opposite the Great Tower a long wall has been excavated dating from the fourteenth century.

In addition to the remains of the walls, several cesspits were found, in which glass fragments, bones and pottery fragments were found. Furthermore, under a 19e century street a brass tube was found with a rolled up piece of paper. With the help of a restorer, an attempt will be made to unfold the roll of paper and investigate whether it contains a message.
